The grass is turning green, the flowers are starting to bloom and Mike is doing his annual chain saw “trimming” of the yard. Yesterday went from cold and damp, too wet to garden to hot and sunny and soil- not too bad! with thunderstorms in the forecast, we are hoping that our seeds don’t get washed away, just nicely watered so they can jump up soon!
Spring also brings out the animals and their babies. Our clever vixen is back and has already made her presence known to our chickens. Leo (our best friend, dog and chicken guardian) is on high alert, but somehow, the foxes can always outsmart him. When the chicks arrive, he will be spending a lot of time with them, I’m sure.
We have lots of happy plants in the greenhouse waiting to get their feet into the soil and then into your CSA boxes. We are really excited about the varieties of vegetables that we are planting and we can’t wait to share them with you! We still have shares available and hope that you will join us for the 2011 season!
